Day 225 - Gibraltar
11/8/11 - I like Gibraltar, I like its eccentricities like the phone boxes and English road signs, Being in Gib is MORE like being in England than actually being in England, and its a little less riotous too :D

Day 221 - MV Azura
7/8/11 - This is the P&O Ship the MV Azura parked (yes parked) at Ajaccio in Corsica. she is quite a nice ship but out of the three I have worked on she has to be my least favourite simply because she was built to make as much money as possible, she is still a nice ship tho.
Day 219 - Decumano Massimo
5/8/11 - This is one of the main streets in Herculaneum, there are shops of all kinds along this road including a shop dealing in frozen food.
Day 218 - 79AD
4/8/11 - Herculaneum is full of awesome sights, things like mosaics, frescos, whole buildings with timbers still intacts, baths, tables, beds. It really is a snapshot of life in AD 79
Day 217 - Herculaneum
3/8/11 - On the afternoon of August 24th AD 79, Mount Vesuvius erupted covering Pompeii in a cloud of ash, later that night Herculaneum met her fate when mud and ash rushed down the mount at 100 miles an hour covering the town under 25 meters of volcanic debris sealing the town in and preserving it. This is one of the streets on Herculaneum and you can really get a sense of what it was like in Roman times.
Day 216 - Pathway to the Clouds
2/8/11 - It was totally cloudy on top of Mount Vesuvius but the sun occasionally shone through and the clouds were strikingly beautiful.
Day 215 - On The Edge Of Fire
1/8/11 - Here I am at the top of Vesuvius with Nat, This had to be one of the highlights of the trip away, you can almost sense the immense power building up deep in the volcano below your feet.
Day 214 - The Entrance To The Realm Of Hades
31/7/11 - This photo shows the nearly the whole crater of Vesuvius, it is huge and its near this point we could smell Sulphur, a sign that Vesuvius is still very active.

Day 213 - Dog Tired
30/7/11 - There are a few of these Dogs on Mount Vesuvius, Not sure if they are stray of if they belong to some of the Volcano rangers but they seem to have no fear.
